Échappées, connivences (Glimpses, Complicities) unfolds in transitional spaces between the inside of an office tower and outside, in the city. Here the public/private dialectic unfolds.
The core of the installation is a series of bits and pieces of conversation recorded over a year in the elevators of an emblematic office building in downtown Montreal. In the installation, these conversations create a soundtrack heard from walls built facing the two video screens.
The people in the videos are suggestive of both individual isolation and the negotiation between nearness and distance within a defined social space.
