Like a sealed room, a character (the artist) and her double (her sister) test the concept of the private in various highly coded semi-public spaces, only small parts of which are depicted here.
These spaces are the changing room of a swimming pool in an apartment building on Nuns’ Island designed by Mies van der Rohe, the hallways of the Banff Springs hotel in Banff National Park and the disused stands at Montreal’s racetrack.
Produced for the exhibition Glissements Art et écritures, the video is punctuated by the words huit clos, inclusion(hôtel), absorption(lobby), sortir, assimiler(estrades), dédoubler(hippodrome), retour.
